Hi, it’s Vandy.
When I curated the racks for House of Vandy, my baseline was clear: I wanted to build a sanctuary of slow fashion. But "slow" and "sustainable" don’t have to mean muted, quiet, or boring. In a world currently flooded with minimal beige and neutral linens, there are days when your spirit demands something louder. Days when you want to feel entirely comfortable in your own skin, make a statement of absolute confidence, and be recognized differently.
For those exact days, I have found your ultimate matches. House of Vandy is now the exclusive home for Neora by Nehal Chopra in Kochi and Kerala.
I felt an immediate creative connection to Nehal’s work. After honing her skills under some of India's leading national designers, Nehal launched Neora to push the boundaries of contemporary fashion through a mastery of color theory and bold, geometric color-blocking.
The name itself is a beautiful play on Nehal's name, and the brand's ultimate motto is freedom—providing an avant-garde medium for both men and women to express their individuality as they conquer the world.
The Fabric of Freedom: Sourcing Bamboo Modal Silk
What truly sets Neora apart as a sustainable powerhouse is its dedication to innovative, planet-positive textiles.
While the garments carry the rich, fluid drape and luxurious luster of high-end silk, they are crafted entirely from bamboo modal silk (Bemberg modal silk). This incredible, eco-certified fabric is sourced from the North-Eastern parts of India.
Why bamboo modal silk?
-
Highly Sustainable: Bamboo is a fast-growing, highly renewable resource that requires minimal water and zero pesticides to thrive.
-
The Performance: When woven into modal silk, it creates a textile that is ultra-lightweight, naturally breathable, and possesses moisture-wicking and wrinkle-resistant properties. It regulates body temperature beautifully, keeping you cool during warm Kochi days and effortlessly elegant during evening celebrations.
-
Cruelty-Free Luxury: It offers all the visual drama, soft touch, and liquid drape of traditional silk, but with a completely vegan, plant-based footprint.
Craftsmanship with a Conscience: Made-to-Order Excellence
At House of Vandy, we believe that zero-waste is the future. Neora perfectly aligns with this belief by operating as a complete "Made-to-Order" label.
Instead of mass-producing garments that clog up warehouses and eventually landfills, each Neora piece is individually crafted with meticulous care. This allows them to eliminate overproduction, minimize textile waste, and focus deeply on impeccable tailoring, precise fits, and intricate, artisanal details—such as their signature hand-braided straps, collars, and necklines.
